John Bridges
was born in 1962 in Beeville, Texas and has lived in Pennsylvania, California, Belgium, Iowa, Colorado, and Washington DC.
He served three years in the Army as a Cavalry Scout, and has worked as a store clerk, video editor, teacher, cook, bartender, paralegal, housepainter, social worker, and assembler at a mannikin factory.
He earned a BA in English from The Colorado College, failed out of law school, and has next to no formal art training.
Bridges is fascinated with literary theory and criticism, and cites Joseph Beuys, Jackson Pollock, Robert Rauschenburg, Jasper Johns, Walt Whitman, Pee-Wee Herman, Tom Waits, Giotto, and Fra Lippo Lippi as just a few of his influences.
He currently resides in upstate New York, with his wife, Amy and their beagle, Nadine.
